Novel Chinese brand presents emotion-themed collection at New York Fashion Week

      NEW YORK, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Dirty Pineapple, a young Chinese stylish clothing brand, displayed its spring and summer 2020 collection at New York Fashion Week (NYFW) on Thursday, highlighting a series of outfits styled with creative prints that intend to inspire reflection on love and relationships.

      Themed Recycled Love, the show involved 44 looks, covering casual suits, tops, dresses and lightweight trench coats. It was the second time that the Shanghai-based fashion brand participated in the NYFW.

      Staples of this season's collection primarily feature various original prints that aim to bring about distinctive visual effects with the help of bright colors including nude, yellow and pink, Nelly Wang, founder of the brand, told Xinhua at the backstage of the show held in downtown Manhattan.

      "We are a brand that's good at telling stories. There are always lots of interesting stories for each season's design, and we hope to narrate them in the language of fashion," Wang said.

      For example, the body prints made of a collage of body parts, and the fake layering prints employed in this collection are designed to associate the thoughts of different skins with people's "emotional personas."

      "Dirty Pineapple explores the idea that personas from past relationships are recycled through life with one's different partners," the brand said in an introduction.

      It also noted that the concept of recycled love is meant to inspire people to objectively and rationally view themselves through different relationships and love experiences.

      Established in 2017, Dirty Pineapple mainly targets young customers with dynamic design that combines high street fashion and creative matching, so as to provide modern urbanites with a mix of high-quality basic and innovative apparel.

      The semiannual New York Fashion Week kicked off on Wednesday, presenting the works of dozens designers, which are expected to set new trends for 2020 spring and summer.
